How this illustration was built
Debt and family support are added while their entered periods overlap. When either period ends, that responsibility drops out and the other continues for its remaining years. One-time needs are included in today's total but not stretched across a period. Savings and existing coverage are subtracted from the total only; no allocation order is assumed.
